The IRIDA Research Centre for Communication Technologies invites applications for Senior Research Fellows in the area of wireless communications. The IRIDA Research Centre for Communication Technologies (http://iridacentre.ucy.ac.cy) is a recently established research centre at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus, conducting both basic and applied research in the broad area of wireless communication theory and its applications.
The open positions concern fundamental and blue-sky research in wireless powered communications (WPC) under the framework of the highly prestigious ERC
Consolidator Grant APOLLO (Advanced Signal Processing Technologies for
Wireless Powered Communications). The APOLLO project has a duration of 5 years and the selected candidates will investigate the fundamental limits of WPC and the integration of wireless power transfer in future wireless communication systems.
The positions refer to candidates with general expertise in signal processing,
communication theory, information theory, optimization, machine learning or
other relevant field.

PROFILE – QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or any other relevant field.
The ideal candidate should have:

  1. at least two publications in prestigious scientific journals (e.g. IEEE Transactions, IEEE JSAC).
  2. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required

The position holder (depending on his/her qualifications) will be required to perform the following tasks:

  1. Shaping research directions and producing results in the area of WPC.
  2. Coordinating research projects and delivering outputs
  3. Disseminating results through high impact journals and conference publications
  4. Providing guidance to PhD and MSc students

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Long Term Contract: Initially a one or two year contract will be offered, but this may be renewed based on performance for multiple years without any limitation.
Short Term Visit: Visits will be offered for a minimum period of three months and a maximum of six months.

The successful candidates are expected to sign their contract and start their new position by 1 January 2023, the latest.
The monthly gross salary will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and expertise
and will be between €2000-€3500 (employer’s cost). For long term contracts, the 13th salary bonus is incorporated in the monthly salary. he position includes Provision of Medical Coverage to the General Health System (GHS), accrding to the relevant Legislation (General System Law of 2021). Maternity leave will be granted based on Maternity Protection Laws 1997 to 2011.
